A brevet is not a race. It’s a return to the roots of cycling—to a time when the goal was simply to cover a distance under your own power, without support, within a set time limit. This format is inspired by the tradition of French randonneurs and the legendary Paris–Brest–Paris event, which has been held since 1891.

Slovakia also has its own randonneuring community, and you’re welcome to join their rides. You can find more information at https://www.randonneurs.sk/.

A brevet is not about winning, but about completing the route within the time limit—at your own pace, with your own strategy, and the ability to handle a long day in the saddle. Each participant is their own manager, deciding where to stop, what to eat, and how to manage their effort.

That’s exactly how this ride will unfold. We’ll all start together from RimRebellion on April 11, 2026 at 7:00, but this is neither a race where you need to drop others nor a group ride where everyone stays together. As the kilometers pass, the group will naturally split into smaller groups of similar pace—or individuals. Throughout the day, you may meet and separate multiple times. You’re welcome to draft, ride with friends, or team up with people you’ve just met.

Turnaround in Brezová pod Bradlom

The route takes you along the foothills of the Little Carpathians, passing through towns such as Modra, Častá, and Smolenice. You’ll cross to the western side of the range via a short and easy gravel section from Buková to Cerová, from where it’s just a short ride to the Mohyla of M. R. Štefánik.

In the first half of the route, we’ll prepare an Auto Lamač pit stop with refreshments.

After the climb, the route turns back toward Bratislava along the western side of the Little Carpathians—through the Kopanice region to Senica, then through the Military Forests (featured in RTSK 2024), and via Lozorno back into the familiar Bratislava hills. The final section follows well-known roads in the Little Carpathians before descending back into the city. We will all meet in Skrytý bar in Nová Cvernovka.
