It was never meant to be easy. But during the fourth edition of Race Through Slovakia, riders had to deal with much more than just a serious dose of kilometres and elevation gain. First came the headwinds, then sub-zero temperatures at night, followed by heavy rain, and finally even snow.
Only around half of the starting field made it to the finish. A dropout rate like that is more typical of some of the toughest races in the world — which makes reaching the finish line all the more rewarding.
