It will not be easy, but it will be worth it. When designing the mandatory segments we focused on leading riders to exceptional places in our region. These segments will also test your resolve and physical strength. You must complete the segments in the same order as listed below. Everyone chooses their own route between segments.

You can download GPX files of the mandatory segments at this address.

#Military Forests parkour

The first kilometers through the city will again be escorted by the municipal police. They will peel off just before the climb that starts in Rača. During this segment you will visit the Military Forests in the Záhorie region, where you will find smooth, traffic-free asphalt.

The rolling road does not offer big elevation gains, but we chose it for its unique atmosphere and to get you safely as far from the capital as possible.

#Veľká Javorina parkour

The first proper climbing dose takes you to Veľká Javorina. Over seven kilometers you will gain more than 500 vertical meters.

A narrower asphalt road with light traffic leads to the transmitter at the summit. As usual, just when you think you are at the top, you will find there are still a few meters to go.

#Pustevny parkour

The Beskydy Protected Landscape Area will test every participant of Race through Slovakia, especially those who skip sleep on day one and push into the night.

The mandatory segment starts around kilometer 250 and delivers the most vertical meters relative to distance. There is also roughly a 500-meter gravel section that can be ridden on a road bike, although slower is advised.

#Levoča Mountains parkour

Levoča Mountains, Slovak Paradise, and Slovak Karst in a single segment. You would be hard pressed to find another 200 kilometers in Slovakia that pack in such stunning nature and scenery. Crossing Slovakia from the north all the way to the south to Rožňava will not be easy.

#Muráň parkour

A narrow asphalt road leads onto the Muráň Plateau, with motor traffic heavily restricted and allowed only by permit. It makes for a peaceful road tailor-made for cyclists.

It is a short segment but with a tough climb where gradients approach twenty percent. It may be a good idea to fuel up on the famous Muráň sweet buns before tackling the hill.

#Šachtičky parkour

The final climb, the welcome, a beer or Kofola, and something warm to eat. We will be waiting for you at the Šachtičky Family mountain lodge above Banská Bystrica until Friday, 10 May, 12:00.

Anyone arriving before this time will be able to shower, rest, and recover. Your belongings left with us at the start in Bratislava will be waiting for you there as well.

If you would like to stay a bit longer, share your race stories, and welcome more riders, you can book rooms at the Family lodge (20€/night), which we have pre-reserved for this purpose.

If relatives or friends want to come meet you, they can also stay with us at the lodge or use the nearby three-star Hotel Šachtička.

Race through Slovakia 650 km

In 2024 we wanted to open the door to even more riders and make entry into endurance cycling easier. We therefore decided to offer a shorter race concept than 1,000 km. If you are not ready for that distance yet, you can choose the 650 km route.

Riders on this route complete the first three mandatory segments together with the others: #Military Forests, #Veľká Javorina, and #Pustevny. They then skip two segments, #Levoča Mountains and #Muráň, and instead head to a segment tailored for them, #Balog – Hriňová, which the riders already experienced in 2023.

From that segment, riders on the shorter route can go straight to the finish at the Family lodge in Šachtičky. They do not have to complete the final segment (#Šachtičky) as initially planned.

#Balog – Hriňová parkour

The segment from Čierny Balog to Hriňová was among the most popular last year and returns again. This time it is mandatory only for riders taking the shorter race. That does not mean you will not meet others here. Riders on the 1,000 km route can also pass this way when planning from Muráň to Detva.

#AFTERPARTY

The afterparty is planned for 10 May at 17:00 in Bratislava. The exact venue will be announced in due course.
